A love of baking took Heidi and her team to Carlyon Bay in 2021, where a beach cafe selling cream teas, cakes and good coffee grew out of the idea of a small batch bakery using local products. What began as one quirky seaside counter is now five food and drink pop ups around St Austell, including a Secret Garden Cafe at Little Winnick and, since March 2026, a seasonal tearoom in the thick Cornish stone of Caerhays Castle.
The principle has not shifted: they bake what they sell, all of it handcrafted. The 2024 Taste for the West Awards brought gold for the scones, sweet potato roll and caramel slice, plus silver for the sausage roll and brownie. Speciality coffee runs alongside. Next door to the beach cafe, Fry Buoys does traditional fish and chips and Frooth handles smoothies and bowls. E-gift cards work across all the locations, which solves a few birthdays.
