Five generations on from the great great grandfather who started it all in the late 1800s, the Kittows are still at Kilhallon, near Par, running a small herd of Pedigree Red Ruby cattle on the original farm. James Kittow styles himself butcher and grazier, which is the honest description: the farm-to-fork story here is one business rather than a supply chain, and educational visits are actively encouraged rather than tolerated.
This is also home to Mr Kittow's Famous Sausage Co, with award winning sausages and hogs pudding to its name, including gluten free Pen'n'tinny Porker chipolatas and sausages. James' Choice picks out recommended cuts and selection boxes from the online shop, alongside top rump braising steaks in 500g and 1kg, jalapeno and honey beef burgers, Thor's Hammer bone-in beef shank and the Kilhallon Beast clubber steak. Collection or delivery, Monday to Friday, 06:00 to 15:00.
