Boscastle Farm Shop

Food hygiene rating: 5 out of 5

Less than 50 yards from the coastal path, with National Trust farmland on all sides, this is the sort of stop that rewards a detour rather than merely intercepting one. The shop and cafe sit together in the heart of Boscastle, and the views do a good deal of the work. Walkers, locals and people who came for coffee and left with a bag of shopping all end up here.

The butchery deals in award-winning meats, the bakery turns out its own breads, and the shelves carry deli goods, fresh fruit and vegetables, dairy and eggs, artisanal cheeses, homemade preserves and grocery essentials, plus a decent run of gifts. The cafe does breakfast, lunch and coffee, with the Cornish breakfast the obvious order. Open 9am to 5pm daily; go early for breakfast, and leave time for the shop on your way out.
