Valley View Cafe

Sharing a site with Aune Valley Meat in the South Hams, this is a cafe with an unusually short supply chain: the farm shop and butchery are next door, and the kitchen cooks from them. Beef, lamb, pork, poultry, game and bacon are all cut on site, alongside eggs, dairy, bakery and deli counters. Few places in Devon can point quite so directly at where the plate came from.

The menu is home cooked, generous and built on that doorstep produce, with example menus published online and afternoon tea for two if you want to make an occasion of it. The wider shop covers cheese, pate, charcuterie, pies and pasties, salad pots and dips, plus a pantry of preserves, chutneys, sauces and store cupboard basics. Come hungry, then do your butchery shopping on the way out.
