The name is Swedish, roughly meaning to sit with people you like over coffee and something sweet, and the owners took the idea literally. They moved from Johannesburg to the South Hams in November 2022, having holidayed around Kingsbridge for years, and found the place as customers first, coming in for morning coffee before building a friendship with Julie and Abby and eventually taking it on. Four children of their own, and a cafe run accordingly.
Specialty coffee is the anchor, with homemade cakes and a compact breakfast and lunch menu behind it: a brunch bap of avocado, fried egg and hot honey halloumi on brioche, a Reuben sandwich, and Katie's bliss balls on the counter. Those bliss balls took Gold for Producer at the Food Drink Devon Awards alongside Gold for Cafe Hospitality, both for the second year running. Go for breakfast, and ask what the drink special is.
