Drayton sits in the middle of the Somerset Levels, that flat patchwork of history and wildlife held between the Mendips to the north and the Blackdowns to the south. The Crown stands at the centre of the village and, by all appearances, the community with it: a Grade II listed pub decorated in a way that reads traditional without feeling stuck, and relaxed enough that locals and passing visitors end up in the same bar.
The bar keeps local draught beers alongside guest ales, ciders, lagers, wines, spirits and seasonal pitchers, and the kitchen runs traditional country fayre, grills, lighter bites and specials from locally sourced ingredients where possible. There are four en suite B&B rooms with king-sized or twin beds, a function room with its own bar and entrance, a large car park, beer garden and children's play area. Doors open at noon most days, from 10am on Thursdays.
