The Dartmoor Ice Cream Co

Made at Hall Farm Barn on the Lydford Road just outside Okehampton, this is ice cream with Dartmoor in its postcode and its ingredients. The aim, stated plainly, is the nearest thing to proper home-made ice cream, which explains the caramel sauce made in house for the Banoffee Pie and the raisins steeped in Barbican Botanics spiced rum from Plymouth. Locally sourced ingredients, a small dairy, and a flavour list that keeps growing.

The range runs from Luxury Madagascan Vanilla and Rich Chocolate Ripple through Honeycomb, Pistachio, Tiramisu and Christmas Pudding, with vegan vanilla and chocolate alongside. Sorbets cover Zesty Lemon, Blackcurrant, St Clements, Raspberry, Mango and Lime, plus a newer chilli one with a subtle kick and a smooth finish. Home delivery is free on local routes with a minimum order of thirty pounds, and there are gift vouchers, tea towels and wholesale supply for trade.
