Porsham Farm

Dairy

Food hygiene rating pending

Five minutes out of Plymouth, with Dartmoor and the Tamar Valley close at hand, Will and Tan run a small non-intensive dairy farm that has spent 25 years learning its way into regenerative practice, via discussion groups, farm walks and courses at the Apricot Centre. Red Tractor, almost organic, high welfare. The herd is crossbred from Jersey, Friesian, Scandinavian Red and older Holstein, chosen for health and milk quality rather than sheer volume.

The cows graze year round where they can, moved regularly through a New Zealand paddock system, with silage or hay when the weather or the soil says otherwise. Milk high in butterfat and protein once went into Tickler Cheddar and now goes to Morrisons as Farmer's Milk. Alongside the farming there is woodland, agroforestry, herbal leys, an orchard, bees, forest school and camping. Porsham Produce covers meat boxes, Brownies By Post, Sinnerbuns and a Devonshire cream tea, collection only.
