Rose and Crown

Pub

Food hygiene rating: 5 out of 5

Yealmpton sits in the middle of the South Hams, close enough to Dartmoor and the coast path to make it a sensible base and pretty enough to be a destination in its own right. The Rose & Crown plays the village local straight: cosy nooks, roaring fires, and a rose garden that catches the sun when Devon obliges. Eight en-suite bedrooms occupy a handsome three-storey period house a few steps away, with a shared garden attached.

The menus run pub classics alongside contemporary twists, built on seasonal ingredients and pitched to cover both a light bite before a walk and a leisurely three courses after one. Sunday roasts use locally produced food and are worth booking for. The beers are award-winning, as is the wider group, which took Best Managed Pub Company and Best Sustainable Pub Company at the 2026 Publican Awards. Book a table, particularly for Sundays.
