Kingston Preserves

What began as jars sold outside a house in Bere Alston, plus a small mention in Devon Life and some pushing from family and friends, turned into a proper business at Ivybridge Market in February 2016. Everything is still made in small batches in a home kitchen, with a polytunnel and greenhouse supplying much of the fruit and the rest bought as locally as possible. Work with the seasons and you sometimes run out. That is rather the point.

The raspberry jam has form: one customer carried a jar back to Washington DC, where her jam-making husband declared it the best he had tasted. Beyond that there is Kingston Breakfast marmalade for those who dislike peel, chilli jam for cold meats and cheese, red onion marmalade built for goat's cheese, lemon curd, fruit vinegars in raspberry, blackcurrant, blackberry and damson, wholegrain mustards and chilli sherry. Hampers are available, or just ask about your favourite.
