Food hygiene rating: 5 out of 5

Buller Quay in East Looe is an unlikely spot for a working still, which is rather the point. Copperfish distils, ages and bottles everything in-house on the harbour of a town that still lands fish, and the range reads accordingly: small batch gins, Cornish rums and Kerbon, their own bold take on a barrel-aged spirit. Craft distilling done where the sea is a few steps away rather than a line on the label.

The core is Copperfish Cornish Dry Gin, or Looe Gin, at 40% ABV, joined by a Fresh Raspberry version, a 57% Navy Strength in 50cl and a limited edition Rhubarb. Rums come in Gold and Spiced at 40%, with Kerbon bottled at 43%. If you are passing through Looe, book onto a small-group distillery tour and guided tasting, which ends with a drink at the bar.
