It started in 2012 with Matteo selling his brother's Italian panettone outside an empty shop in Totnes, on the day the Olympic torch came through. The building's owner, photographer Nick Clements, offered the space as a shared concept: Italian coffee and cakes alongside his art and memorabilia. Matteo and Sarah took it on, and brought espresso-led Italian pace to a slow Devon high street. The contrast turned out to be the point.

Coffee is roasted over reclaimed wood at their South Devon roastery, an Italian method chosen for slowness rather than speed, with beans picked for clarity, balance and sweetness. Bread, pastries and cakes are handmade in the Totnes bakery using natural fermentation and a generations-old sourdough starter, delivered fresh each morning by electric van. Kitchens run a seasonal, Italian-inspired brunch menu. If you like what you drink, there is a home subscription and wholesale supply.
