Food hygiene rating: 5 out of 5

The Tally Ho was built in the fourteenth century for the men working on St John the Baptist Church next door, and both buildings are listed. It has been the Church House Inn and the Bolton Arms along the way, settling on its present name in 1952, and it still takes pride of place in the middle of Littlehempston, five minutes from Totnes.

Mike and Kelly Joiner took the lease in 2018, having come back from running a successful country pub in New Zealand. It is a free house, so the bar carries the best Devon ales and cider alongside a genuinely impressive wine list, and the food is freshly prepared rather than reheated. South Devon CAMRA made it Country Pub of the Year in both 2019 and 2020.
