Torbay has a distillery of its own, and it takes the setting seriously. The Coastal Distilling Co works in small batches on the English Riviera, drawing its flavours from the Devon coast and sourcing ingredients locally. It is the sort of operation where the master distiller, Laurance, still fronts the tasting sessions himself, which tells you most of what you need to know about the scale of the thing.

The range covers coastal gins, vodka, premium rum, liqueurs, bottled Negronis, a zero-proof gin and seasonal one-offs, plus gift sets if you are buying for someone else. Guided gin tastings run at the Torquay distillery, walking through how the spirits are made and what goes into them, with grazing boards from The Yacht alongside.
