Hallett's the Bakers

BakeryPizza

Food hygiene rating pending

Melvyn and Helen Hallett started baking on the parade at Winner Street in December 1993, two people with a shared taste for traditional methods and a small bakery to do it in. Word travelled the way it does in Paignton: queues up the street, cars stacked across the road, the smell of pizza and garlic bread doing the advertising. Demand outgrew one van and one oven, and a second generation, Christopher, came in to help it grow.

Bread, rolls, cakes and pastries are baked fresh daily and supplied across Torbay and South Devon, with a coffee shop alongside the bakery that gave the early regulars somewhere to sit. Helen's insistence on service standards was drilled into staff and family alike and still shows. Local retail customers should place orders directly at the Torbay Road shop on 698027; the main bakery line is.
