It turned out plenty of people around South Devon had produce they wanted to sell and nowhere sensible to sell it, and the thing snowballed. Someone has since called it "The Diddly Squat of South Devon", a comparison the shop seems perfectly happy to wear.

The premise stays simple: wholesome homegrown produce, championed rather than merely stocked, from people growing it nearby. Stock reflects what local growers have brought in, so it shifts with the seasons rather than a buying list.
