The Chart Room First Class Coffee Lounge

The Chart Room is a First Class Coffee Lounge built by people who spent years working on ocean liners, and it shows - cutlery, crockery and décor are all put together to feel like the first-class dining rooms and veranda grills of early twentieth-century luxury ships. It sits on Fore Street in Brixham as part of the Brixham Steam Packet Company, and it's known locally for what it calls the best afternoon tea in Torbay, running from a classic cream tea up to a full high tea.

The rest of the menu covers hand-made sandwiches, paninis, soups and brunch toasts on sourdough or bagels, with vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free options throughout, plus proper coffee and speciality teas from South Devon Teas. It's open Tuesday to Saturday in winter and Monday to Saturday through summer, generally 10am to 3 or 4pm. The lounge holds a 5-star food hygiene rating.
