Gaia Coffee

CafeCoffee

Food hygiene rating: 5 out of 5

Opening on Winner Street in Paignton in September 2019, this started as a small operation with a simple aim: learn the craft of coffee properly and offer a particular kind of hospitality. What happened next was less planned. The shop became a genuine part of its community, and that realisation led to the creation of Gaia Giving CIC, a not for profit that now runs the place alongside a speciality roastery.

The coffee is speciality grade and roasted in house, with a suspended coffee scheme that anyone in need can claim. Beyond the counter there are wellbeing baristas offering support and signposting, work experience placements, a community garden, yoga classes, a book club, a creative collective and the Winner Street Walkers. Rooms are available to hire. Come for the coffee, then look at the noticeboard and see what else is running.
