Pier Point Torquay

Right beside Torquay's marina, with the Bay filling the windows, this is a restaurant that has been given a proper second wind. Lorraine Arnold took ownership in 2020, and the seriousness shows in the detail rather than the decor: MSC certified cod, plaice and haddock, traceability taken as a matter of principle, and Brixham landed ling, mackerel and hake when the season allows. The menu is coastal and deliberately simple, running from sustainable fish to Mediterranean vegetarian dishes, with seasonal specials the regulars keep an eye on. Chips are cut on site daily from Williams Potatoes, thicker blade, and the fish and chips remains the thing most people order. There is a hand-picked wine list and a seasonal cocktail menu, with classics made to order. Go for lunch and ask for a window table.
