Torre Abbey Cafe

Torre Abbey Cafe sits within the grounds of Torre Abbey, founded in 1196 as a monastery for Premonstratensian canons and now the best-preserved medieval monastery in Devon and Cornwall. The abbey survived Henry VIII's dissolution in 1539 in fragmentary form, then passed to the Cary family, who lived there until 1930 - a young Agatha Christie attended parties at the house during their tenancy, and the abbey is now part of the Agatha Christie Mile and the main venue for the International Agatha Christie Festival.

The cafe itself keeps things simple - tea, coffee, cake and sandwiches, served within sight of the abbey ruins and gardens. It runs Tuesday to Sunday on a largely seasonal basis, and dogs are welcome. The cafe holds a 5-star food hygiene rating.
