Down on Torquay's harbourside, this one wears two hats and wears them well: a cafe, bar and restaurant by day, and the town's self-declared premier live music venue when the evening turns. The food is cooked fresh rather than assembled, and the sourcing is taken seriously - a family run traditional butchers in St Marychurch, growers across the South West, most of the farms within twenty miles of Totnes.
Expect proper cooking backed by local suppliers, drinks at the bar, and a room set up for music as much as for eating. They also handle private and corporate events, so it is worth asking if you have a group to feed. Allergies are handled properly - tell a server before you order and they will steer you. One practical note: opening hours can shift with the weather down on the harbour, so check ahead before you set off.
