Sally and Carol brought their Devon-made flapjacks to this seaside town on the edge of Exmoor, and the shop was officially opened on 1 June by author Tony James and Richard Newton, chairman of Minehead RNLI. That connection isn't decorative: £1.50 from every Minehead-specific box of six goes to the RNLI, £4 from every box of twelve, plus the 20p box cost for anyone who declines the packaging. A Taste of the West Gold for hospitality and retail followed, with judges singling out staff chasing a customer down the road over a forgotten bag.
The range runs well past Traditional: Apple and Blackcurrant, Caramel Latte, Peanut Butter Brownie, Lemon Drizzle, Honeycomb, Passion Fruit and Dark Chocolate, Chocolate Orange, Black Forest Brownie and Rocky Road, with vegan and dog versions too. Fudge and jams sit alongside, and seasonal ranges cover Christmas, Easter, Valentine's and Halloween. Everything is individually wrapped, freezable, and boxed in recyclable card. Shortest shelf life is two weeks, so buy the twelve and let the RNLI benefit.
