Dartmoor Chilli Farm is run by Phil and Kay Palmer from Rosebarn Nursery near Ashburton, on the southern slopes of Dartmoor National Park - a plant nursery since 1992 that turned to commercial chilli growing in 2007 and now runs on its own solar and wind power. The farm grows more than a hundred varieties of chilli and sweet pepper, from mild jalapenos up to the Carolina Reaper. Planning restrictions mean the nursery itself isn't open to visitors, so the way to see the range in person is at the food festivals and markets the farm attends around Devon, or through its local stockists.

The harvest goes into a hand-made range of sauces, oils, jams, chutneys, salts and chilli chocolate, made in small batches - among them the Dartmoor Goblin and Dartmoor Demon sauces and a run of chilli chocolates that have picked up several Great Taste Gold awards. The farm has also been named Best UK Chilli Grower at the National Chilli Awards and holds gold and silver awards from the Food and Drink Devon Awards and Taste of the West. Products are vegan-friendly, gluten-free and palm oil-free, and the farm holds a 5-star food hygiene rating.
