Black Dog Honey Bees

Honey

Food hygiene rating: 5 out of 5

Bees come first here, and everything else follows from that. Working out of Plymouth, this is a beekeeping operation as much as a honey producer: swarms collected, nests removed humanely, hives visited by anyone curious enough to get suited up. There is a genuine argument behind it too, that bees pollinate roughly a third of what we eat, and that backing a local beekeeper is a small vote for biodiversity.

The honey is raw and unpasteurised, sold in twin packs - 340g wildflower, 227g heather brought in as a guest from Yorkshire, with a Dartmoor honey due in autumn 2026. Hand-poured beeswax candles and decorations are on the way. Beyond the jars, there are talks for schools, clubs and community groups, pollination services, and guided hive experiences you can buy as a gift voucher for one or two.
