The Union Inn Pub & Rooms

The Union Inn sits at 6 East Street in the middle of Newton Abbot, a fixture of the town's pub scene with a cosy, unpretentious feel - the kind of place where regulars, passing walkers and anyone else end up sharing a table. There's a pool table, dart boards, a jukebox and a dedicated gin bar, plus live music on some nights, so it covers most bases for a straightforward night out.

The kitchen keeps it simple: a full menu runs 10am to 2.30pm and a shorter bar menu from 3pm to 9pm, daily, alongside a full breakfast. On tap there's Birra Moretti, Guinness, Carlsberg and John Smiths, with Strongbow and Thatchers on the cider side. Six modest guest rooms sit upstairs, from around £35 a night or £60 for a couple, basic but with tea and coffee making and everything needed for an overnight stop in the middle of town.
