Maltings Taphouse

BarCraft BeerBottle Shop

Food hygiene rating: 5 out of 5

Set in a former maltings building on Teign Road, right next to the Templars Way footpath and cycle route and a short walk from Newton Abbot station, the Maltings Taphouse works as a craft beer bar, art gallery, music venue and general hangout space rather than a straightforward pub. The taps run through a serious rotation of craft beer, backed by a large range of bottled and canned beer from around the world, plus wine, vodka and gin for anyone not drinking beer.

Wood-fired sourdough pizza is served Friday and Saturday nights, and the upstairs beer garden at the back of the building looks straight out over the tracks, so you can watch trains come in and out of the station while you drink. It's a relaxed, family and dog-friendly taproom with knowledgeable staff who know their way around the tap list, open from early afternoon through to late most days of the week.
