The Press House

BrunchCafe

Food hygiene rating: 5 out of 5

The Press House has been on Fore Street in Exeter since 2020, when Dan and Melissa opened it as a coffee shop that quickly grew into somewhere people go for brunch as much as a flat white. Coffee runs from 9am to 3.30pm on weekdays (3pm on Sundays), with brunch served alongside from 9am to 2.30pm (2pm on Sundays) - pancakes, mushroom dishes and a rotating cake selection all feature, with a genuine vegan and dairy-free range rather than a token substitution.

The menu shifts with the seasons and mixes classic brunch dishes with a few more inventive plates, and the coffee itself is treated as seriously as the food - it's the kind of place that's built its reputation on getting the basics right rather than chasing novelty. Sitting on one of Exeter's older streets, it's become a regular stop for people working nearby or passing through the city centre looking for something better than a chain.
