Arcadia is the first physical taproom from Utopian Brewing, the Devon independent brewery that's been running since 2017, and it opened on Northernhay Place in 2025 in a spot that had stood empty for two years. The launch was crowdfunded, raising over £13,000 from 116 backers, and the renovation by Maven Design Studios went for light tones and natural materials across two floors - bench seating and cushions downstairs, quieter corners upstairs, built-in chessboards and board games, and dogs welcome on the ground floor.
Sixteen draught lines carry Utopian's own craft lagers, brewed with British ingredients, alongside rotating guest beers from other independent brewers and an alcohol-free pilsner. The small-plates food menu sources about 90% of its ingredients from within 30 miles, and dishes include pan-fried seabass with samphire, sticky pork belly with Asian slaw, and glazed chicken wings. Fridays and Saturdays add a lunch service with a three-plate deal, and Sunday brings a plated roast.
