Owen and Kate Wilder had lived in Heavitree for 17 years before they did anything about the gap they kept noticing on the high street: nowhere selling proper local food and produce. After a 25 year career in education, Owen took the plunge, and the deli opened in December 2024. The remit is narrow and clear - hand picked produce from Devon, Cornwall, Somerset and Dorset, chosen because it is good rather than because it is convenient.

Breakfast runs to homemade granola with yogurt and fruit at £3.75, Devon cured bacon in a brioche roll at £4.75, and croissants and pain au chocolat from £3. Rolls are made to order daily with Devon ham or Westcountry cheese, local chutney and salad, £5.25, with veggie and vegan versions always available. Coffee is fairly priced, tea is £2.50 across the board. Closed Sundays and Mondays, so plan around it.
