The Courtyard opened in 2019 on Sidford High Street, run by Gail and Shane with an emphasis on Devon's own produce and a relaxed, unhurried welcome. The name comes from the enclosed courtyard out the back, a bit of quiet away from the High Street out front, and the whole place leans botanical rather than corporate cafe - plants everywhere, sustainability built into the sourcing rather than bolted on as a marketing line.
The menu is split into two sides, Fauna and Flora, so vegans and non-vegans can order from the same table without one side feeling like an afterthought. Single-origin speciality coffee is the backbone of the drinks list, and the food runs to well-cooked traditional breakfasts with generous portions alongside a strong run of vegan dishes. Reviewers consistently point to the warmth of the service and how well the place handles families and dogs together - it reads as a spot built for regulars as much as for passing summer trade.
