Jar Bakery

Jar's Sidmouth cafe sits on Fore Street in the heart of the town, one of four Jar Bakery sites across Devon alongside Exeter, Topsham and Exmouth. The business was started by siblings Josh and Alex, built around scratch baking and speciality coffee, and the Sidmouth branch keeps to the same formula - fresh pastries, hearty lunches and coffee made properly rather than as an afterthought.

Pasties, paninis and cakes get particular praise from regulars, and the cafe is clean, spacious and dog-friendly, useful for a stop after a walk along the seafront. It opens early and stays open into the afternoon, Monday to Saturday 8am to 5pm and Sunday 9am to 4pm, fitting both a breakfast crowd and a late lunch one. As part of a small, family-run group rather than a single independent shop, it has the consistency of a chain with the baking still done on site.
