Milsons Point has been running in Sidmouth since 2019, built around freshly prepared breakfasts, brunch and lunches rather than a reheated cabinet of pastries. It has a newly refurbished courtyard for al fresco tables, and the setting is contemporary rather than chintzy, which sets it apart from some of the more traditional tearooms nearby. It is fully licensed too, so it works as a bar as well as a cafe, and on selected summer evenings it opens later with a seasonal menu, cocktails and wine alongside the usual coffee and cake.
Breakfast covers the expected ground - eggs Benedict, a full English, French toast - done well enough that reviewers single them out specifically rather than describing breakfast generically. Lunch runs to freshly made sandwiches, seasonal dishes and daily specials, and there is a proper homemade cake selection alongside speciality coffee, with vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options genuinely catered for rather than an afterthought. Bookings are recommended, which says something about how busy it gets in season.
