Becketts Coffee House

Becketts Coffee House sits on Sidmouth High Street and has been run by Louise and Trevor Brooks since January 2019. It's a proper local cafe rather than a chain outpost, built around hot coffee and homemade food served without fuss, and it's built a loyal following for it - 4.5 stars on Tripadvisor and a regular top-15 spot among Sidmouth's restaurants.

The standout on the menu is the local crab, sandwiches and soup made with crab fished from Lyme Bay, alongside filet americain and other simple lunch dishes. There's a full gluten-free menu too, covering sandwiches, bread and cakes, which isn't a given at a small high street cafe. It's dog-friendly, has free secure wifi, and works well as a stop for coffee and a proper sandwich while exploring the town rather than a destination in its own right.
