The Cinnamon Tree

The Cinnamon Tree has been serving Bengali food from Radway Place in Sidmouth since 2006, named after the spice that runs through Bengali cooking. It was started as a way of bringing authentic Bengal flavours to East Devon, and the kitchen still prioritises fresh, locally sourced ingredients where it can alongside the traditional spicing.

Menu highlights lean toward richer Bengali dishes rather than a generic curry-house list - murgh makhani, a rich, mellow chicken dish, and chingri malai curry, prawns cooked in a layered coconut sauce, sit alongside the more familiar tandoori mixed grill and naan. The dining room mixes traditional and contemporary decor for a warm, comfortable setting, and it offers both dine-in and takeaway, open lunchtimes and evenings through the week.
