Sitting right on the seafront with panoramic views across Lyme Bay, this is the sort of place that works as well in a squall as it does in August sun. The 2024 Taste of the West Gold Award says something about the kitchen's seriousness, but the more telling detail is that over 80 per cent of the ingredients come from local producers. That takes effort, and it shows on the plate.

Breakfast rolls to start, lighter things at lunch, ice cream for afterwards, and cakes made in house rather than bought in. Coffee is Red Stack Coffee Co's Valley Blend, which is worth ordering properly rather than as an afterthought. It has become a locals' spot as much as a visitors' one. Go early if you want a table with the full sweep of the bay, or take a coffee and cake out onto the front.
