Taste of Sidmouth

Ten years of gelato-making sits behind the counter in Sidmouth's Market Place, and it has stayed in the family throughout. Cathy started it and still runs the business, while Sophie and Thomas, who helped out for most of their lives, took over the making two years ago. Traditional Italian method, Devon ingredients, and a shop that does hot food and coffee every day. Dogs welcome, which in a seaside town matters more than it sounds.

The awards cabinet is worth a look. Pear and Ricotta took Taste of the West's Supreme Champion Product in 2023 and gold again as a 2024 finalist, and it appears in recipes throughout the forthcoming 'Taste of the South West' cookbook. Mango Yoghurt has collected golds in 2017, 2022, 2023 and 2024, plus Champion Ice Cream in 2022. There is a flavour of the month too. Ask what is on, then order the Pear and Ricotta anyway.
