Scape Goat Rum

Food hygiene rating pending

The scapegoat ritual, in which a village loaded its guilt onto an animal and sent it over the cliffs, is an odd thing to build a rum around. It works. Handcrafted in Lynton, on the edge of Exmoor, this is a spirit with a story stitched into it, born from a growing love of good food and drink and the idea of making something of their own rather than simply admiring other people's.

What lands in the bottle is a premium caramel flavoured rum spirit drink, 70cl at 25% abv, deliberately pitched away from the bold and complex end of the rum shelf and towards something smoother and easier to like. Deep caramel notes, a clean finish. Drink it neat over ice, pour it over ice cream for a very quick dessert, or lengthen it with fiery ginger beer if you want the sharper version.
