Pickle Shack

Based at Woodbury Salterton and roving across Devon, Somerset, Dorset and Cornwall, this collective has spent nine years arguing that wedding food need not be dull. The chefs trained in Michelin starred kitchens and it shows in the thinking rather than the fuss: traditional West Country ingredients handled with modern technique. Sourcing is the point of principle here, with meat, fish, fruit, vegetables and foraged hedgerow ingredients coming from local suppliers, and anything out of season staying off the menu unless it has been pickled.

The work spans bespoke wedding catering, from three course breakfasts to street food stations, sharing platters, canapes and evening food, plus award winning pop-up restaurants in unusual Devon venues and contemporary office catering around Exeter and beyond. Expect dishes along the lines of yoghurt terrine with roasted rhubarb, toasted salted oats and sweet cicely sugar, or a floral dark chocolate tart with raspberries and sea salt. Approach them with a date and a rough idea, then let the season decide the rest.
