Monarch Liqueurs

Food hygiene rating: 5 out of 5

Family-run and based in Ivybridge, this is a small operation with a clear obsession: flavoured liqueurs made properly, in small batches, by hand. Every bottle is washed, dried, filled, capped, ribboned and labelled by people rather than machines, and nothing reaches the shelf until in-house mixologist Ginny is satisfied with how it tastes. The awards have followed, and recognition has spread well beyond Devon.

The range spans vodka, gin, whisky and rum liqueurs, with regional ingredients doing real work: Cornish Black Bee Honey in the Honey and Spice Rum, Cornish Sea Salt in the Salted Caramel Rum. Pineapple Rum, Toasted Coconut Rum and Butterscotch Whisky sit alongside them, priced from around £6 for a miniature up to £40 for a full bottle. If you are buying for someone else, build your own Tamar Tipple miniature gift box online.
