Ringmore sits just back from the South Devon coast, and the 13th-century free house at its centre has never had to choose between village local and destination food pub. Four fires warm the winter months across a main bar, Nelson's bar, a dining room, the story room and a conservatory, with a large beer garden for when the weather turns. Walkers and dogs are part of the furniture, and the coastal and inland paths start more or less at the door.
Real Devon ales are cask conditioned and poured by gravity from brass taps, two barrels tapped at a time and new arrivals weekly, running dark to light and hoppy to sweet. Conor's menu changes daily, drawing on the South Hams coastline and its farms, with steaks cooked over Bincho charcoal and dishes sourced within 50 miles marked on the page. Food runs 12 to 2 and 6 to 8, Sunday evenings excepted.
