ISCA takes its name from the Roman name for Exeter and sits inside the voco Zeal hotel at Exeter Science Park, built around a theatre kitchen that puts the cooking on show rather than behind a closed door. The kitchen works directly with farmers, fishers and artisans across Devon and Cornwall, with day-boat fish and locally grown vegetables doing a lot of the heavy lifting on a menu that changes with the seasons.
The space splits into three - restaurant, bar and lounge, and an outdoor terrace - so it works equally well for a sit-down dinner or a drink after work. Breakfast runs daily, and the all-day menu is built for both quick lunches and slower ones, with light bites and seasonal sides alongside heartier mains. The Sunday roast is a regular fixture through autumn and winter, paused over summer and back from October. Three hours of complimentary parking is available on site, useful given the science park location.
