Hook Fish and Chips

Seafood

Food hygiene rating: 5 out of 5

Hook Fish and Chips sits on South Street, close to Exeter Cathedral, doing a contemporary take on the classic chip shop - eat in at one of the tables or take away. Reviewers regularly call it the best fish and chips in the city, and it's built a solid Tripadvisor reputation on light, crisp batter and properly cooked chips.

Beyond the standard cod and haddock there's a wider menu of burgers, chicken, pies and sausages, with a decent run of vegetarian options too. Every fish dish comes with a pot of tartar sauce and a wedge of lemon. It's open seven days a week from 11.30am to 9.30pm at 88 South Street, an easy stop when exploring the cathedral quarter.
