Ground Up Cookery School

BritishAsianStreet Food

Food hygiene rating pending

Rural Devon outside Newton Abbot is the setting for a cookery school built around foraging, fermentation, preservation and cutting food waste - the sort of skills that sound worthy until you spend a day on them and realise how much they change the way you cook. Classes run for groups or individuals, and the same thinking feeds into chef training and consultancy work for kitchens looking to develop more sustainable menus.

The course list stretches from artisan baking and pasta making to Asian street food, with workshops like Perfect Pies for British pastry, Advanced Food Preservation Techniques, and an autumn baking day covering apple strudel, pear and almond tart and homemade custard. There are also Heath & Hedge wild infused spirits, including a Cherry, Chocolate & Hogweed Seed dark rum and a three-bottle mini gin gift pack. Check the course calendar, or ask about bespoke days, team building and venue hire.
