Three generations of the Jones family have now stood behind this counter, which started life in the Newton Abbot Butter Market over fifty years ago and has been trading for more than sixty. Stuart Jones runs it today, following his father and grandfather, and the thinking has not shifted much: source the best West Country meat, then look after the people buying it. Bacon is cured on the premises, and the gammon, beef, pork and turkey are all cooked in house and sliced to order, alongside traditional Devonshire sausages and puddings. A Gold award from the Taste of the West Hospitality and Retail Awards 2025 recognised the products, the premises and the team's knowledge.
