Crosses Ice Cream

Crosses Ice Cream came out of the Covid lockdown of 2020, when Will and Rachel decided to put their family farm at Burlescombe, near Tiverton, to a new use. Will is a chef by trade and currently head chef at Killerton House and Gardens; Rachel is a registered nurse who grew up on Crosses Farm and had always loved cooking and baking. Between them they turned that farming background and kitchen experience into an ice cream business rather than letting either skill sit idle during lockdown.
The milk comes from the dairy farm next door, where the cows roam the same land, so the ice cream is about as local as it gets. Flavours include Mint Choc Fudge, Choccy Choc Chip and a Raspberry Sorbet, sold in 450ml and 900ml pots through local farm shops including Halberton Court Farm Shop, as well as from their own ice cream van, which can be booked for events. It's a small, genuinely farm-to-tub operation rather than a bought-in supply rebadged with a local name.
