The Brunswick Arms is a Grade II listed pub on Brunswick Place in the centre of Dawlish, overlooking The Brook and The Lawn - the stretch of water running through town where Dawlish's famous black swans gather. It's a two-minute walk from the train station, which makes it an easy stop for visitors arriving by rail as much as a fixture for locals.
The pub keeps things properly traditional: pool, darts and skittles alongside the bar, and a patio out front that's the best spot in town to watch the swans with a pint. Food runs to pub classics done with some care - wagyu burgers, racks of BBQ ribs glazed in a smoky sauce, Sunday roasts with proper Yorkshire puddings, and fish and chips served golden rather than soggy. The drinks list runs two changing beers alongside a regular, so there's usually something different on if you're a regular. It's family-friendly and dog-friendly throughout, and its central position - overlooking the water rather than tucked down a side street - makes it one of the more visible pubs in Dawlish.
