Woody's Cafe sits on Queen Street in Dawlish town centre, a three-minute walk from the station, and has been run by Kimberley and Byron Woods since they took it over in August 2017 - it was known as No.1 Cafe before they renamed it Woody's in 2022. The food is kept simple and done well: sandwiches, fresh salads and homemade cakes, with the signature Woody's Dawlish Delight - a zesty lemon meringue cake - the thing regulars come back for specifically.
It's dog-friendly and open Tuesday to Sunday, 10am to 5pm, closed Mondays. The atmosphere is friendly and unpretentious rather than styled for social media, though the cafe has built a following on Instagram and TikTok alongside its regular Dawlish customers. With a 4.6-star rating from close to 180 Google reviews, it's become one of the town's more consistently well-reviewed independent cafes.
