The Swan Inn

Pub

Food hygiene rating: 4 out of 5

A family-run pub in Lympstone, right by the harbour and the village train station, with flower boxes spilling over the front windowsills and centuries-old beams and wood panelling inside. It's the kind of village local that draws people down from Exmouth as much as it serves the village itself.

Everything on the menu is homemade and built around what's landed or grown nearby - mussels from the Exe, fish from Lyme Bay, meat off the Devon hills. Herb-crusted lamb belly, River Exe moules frites, wild mushroom tagliatelle and an Elston Farm beefburger sit alongside heartier options like roast rump of Devon beef with giant Yorkshire puddings, minted lamb shank and a rotating pie of the day. Starters run to butternut squash soup, baked camembert to share and potted Lyme Bay crab, with Cask Marque-accredited real ales and a proper wine list to go with it.
