A Grade II* listed farmhouse dating from the reign of Henry II, with C17 origins and later C18 and C20 additions, now run as a family-owned gastropub in Kingsteignton. The building keeps some genuinely odd features for a pub - a medieval well sits under a glass-topped table in the restaurant, and a standard lamp is fashioned from an old apple-press timber turnscrew, alongside elm screens original to the building.
The kitchen pairs classic English pub food with an authentic homemade Thai banquet menu, an unusual combination that's become the pub's signature rather than a gimmick, and the Sunday roast has a solid local reputation with all the classic trimmings. House beer is Old Rydon Ale, brewed locally by Hunters Brewery, with other ales on rotation always sourced from local breweries rather than the national brands.
