The Cobb Arms

Built in 1938 by Bridport's Palmers Brewery, on land that once belonged to Lyme Regis boat builders, this corner pub sits across the street from the Cobb where it meets the harbour. Family run and vintage in style, it has settled into the town as a proper local rather than a seafront curiosity. Three bar areas, two outdoor eating areas and a verandah looking over Lyme Bay give you options depending on the weather and the mood.

Palmers ales are the anchor, backed by an extensive gin list and a wine menu, with local fish and freshly prepared local ingredients on seasonal menus that run to three courses if you want them. Rooms are available upstairs, handy for fossil hunting with Dinosaur Land half a mile off and the sandy beach a minute's walk. Drinks and coffee from 10am, lunch noon to 4pm, dining 5pm to 9pm. Parties over six should book ahead.
